I read Tzvi Haimov’s Forget Judicial Overhaul, We Need Editorial Overhaul with fascination. I do hear his point that we need to be exposed to different perspectives on the issues of the day. But, I think that Haimov forgets that frum newspapers have rabbinical consultants who dictate what views are deemed appropriate in a frum publication. According to Haimov, should our frum newspapers publish opinion pieces in favor of abortion? It’s an extreme example, but I think it illustrates the point that the frum media are beholden to their rabbinic advisors.
