Thank you for publishing yet another refreshing article by Tzvi Haimov. In his article, Forget Judicial Review, We Need Editorial Overhaul, Haimov argues that the frum media needs to publish opinions that present diverse perspectives and viewpoints. I couldn’t agree more with Haimov. One need only to look at the Talmud to get inspiration on how differing opinions and perspectives are valued and held in high esteem. The Talmud is all about presenting different opinions, often very subtle ones.

I remember learning that one of the reasons why in halachah we generally hold like Bet Hillel as opposed to Bet Shamai is because the school of Bet Hillel would study Bet Shamai’s positions as well as its own. The school of Bet Shamai, however, would only study its own views and teachings. I think this demonstrates the importance of hearing and understanding other points of view.
