The music was lively, the dancing spirited, and the room filled with the energy of Sukkot as Yeshivat Torat Chaim came alive on Tuesday of Chol HaMoed. Talmidim, Rabbeim, faculty members, and local residents gathered in Hillcrest for a Simchat Beit Hashoeva that began with a gala barbecue and continued inside the Yeshivah building at the Torah Center with song and dancing.
The barbecue gave the Yeshivah’s students an opportunity to enjoy Yom Tov together outside the regular rhythm of the school day. Once indoors, the talmidim took to the floor alongside friends, teachers, and members of the community, adding to the warmth and simchah of the evening.
Rabbi Shalom Khaimov, Rosh Yeshivah and Dean of Yeshivat Torat Chaim, welcomed the gathering and introduced Rabbi Leeor Dahan, Rav of Kehilat Avodat Hashem in Hillcrest. Rabbi Khaimov spoke warmly about the Yeshivah’s home in Hillcrest and the importance of experiencing the joy of the Yamim Tovim in a way that carries into everyday life.
Rabbi Dahan spoke about the bond between Yeshivat Torat Chaim and the surrounding kehillah, noting that the Yeshivah’s presence helped inspire the opening of Kollel Chazon Yosef and further strengthen the neighborhood’s atmosphere of limud Torah.
Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov, Rav of Kehilat Sephardim of Ahavat Achim in Kew Gardens Hills, and Rabbi Yaniv Meirov, Rav of Congregation Charm Circle in Kew Gardens Hills, also joined the evening, reflecting the ties between the Yeshivah and the broader Queens Torah community.
The Simchat Beit Hashoeva reflected what Yeshivat Torat Chaim seeks to instill in its students: serious Torah learning and academic excellence alongside warmth, friendship, and a love of Torah. For the talmidim, the evening strengthened the friendships and sense of belonging that extend beyond the classroom and shape their Yeshivah experience.
