YCQ’s Chanukah celebrations were truly jam-packed—or should we say jelly-filled?
The festivities began with the uplifting sounds of Hallel echoing through the school. On the first day, students participated in a variety of exciting activities. Early Childhood students dazzled their families with delightful performances in their Chanukah plays, while Grades 1–3 competed in a lively dreidel competition. Junior High School students joined their Rebbeim and Morot for a morning of special games and songs, followed by a thrilling magic show by Yoel Spielman for Grades 4–8.
After a brief Chanukah vacation, the celebrations resumed in full swing on Tuesday. Throughout the day, students in all grades enjoyed a Silent DJ experience. With headphones provided by DJ Eli Arshadnia, they danced and celebrated the miracles of Chanukah—silently! The sight of students showing off their Chanukah moves without any music blasting through speakers brought laughter and fun to all. Additionally, Grades N–2 were entertained by a delightful Small Wonder Puppet Show.
Staff members were not left out of the celebrations. On Tuesday, they were treated to a delicious Faculty Luncheon hosted by the administration. A special thank you goes to the YCQ PTO and the families who contributed to the thoughtful Hakarat HaTov gifts for the staff.
On Thursday, Junior High School students dedicated their day to Chesed, visiting local nursing homes and performing acts of kindness throughout Queens. Their efforts brought light and joy to others, beautifully embodying the spirit of Chanukah. Meanwhile, back at YCQ, students in Grades N–5 decorated donuts and Chanukah-themed cookies, ending the holiday with a sweet treat.
A heartfelt thank you to Morah Shirly Pourad-Kaikov and Mr. Jacob Grossman for organizing the incredible Chanukah activities, and to Mrs. Ambalu and Mrs. Jaffe for capturing the wonderful moments in pictures.
