Construction in New York is a very difficult process. It has been proven by long-term experience of many experts in this hard business. The slightest violation of a single term of the approved project, detected by the controlling institutions, instantly leads to complications. Besides, the recent devastating long-term pandemic halted the construction of the building of our synagogue due to the strict quarantine requirements too. Finally, the predicaments are over, all obstacles have been removed by the titanic efforts of the Center's management, and at the same time, there is a ray of hope: a few weeks ago the builders finally returned to our construction site. Without going into detail, let me note that the process of this return was not simple, since some of the workers got employed at other sites; besides, the inflation that has recently occurred has sharply increased the cost of construction work.

Nevertheless, the builders, acting like a diligent housewife, first of all sorted out the mess on the construction site, removing debris and all unnecessary things that interfered with well-coordinated work. Now intensive actions are underway related to the commissioning of the elevator and performing a number of other necessary tasks carried out by a team of electricians. By the way, this team is all new, they apparently offered more acceptable financial remuneration conditions for their labor. After all, every cent of the budget is strictly accounted for, and builders are chosen on a repeatedly proven competitive basis.

Simultaneously, the works are being carried out in an accelerated manner to provide the building with protective equipment against water penetration, primarily into the object’s underground parts along the entire perimeter.

Now the construction process is managed by David Kuptiev appointed according to the decision of the Center management. Each step is taken collaboratively, after carefully checking possible options and consistently using the most effective solution that saves people's money. Iosif and Uri Alishaev, Ilya and Yuri Kuptiev are always by David's side, providing constant support in solving emerging problems. In their opinion, it will take about one and a half to two years to complete the work that needs to be done.

After all, we are talking about the construction of the synagogue, which will serve our people for many centuries to come, and this endeavor requires serious thoughtful efforts. We very much hope that the happy long-awaited day that every member of our many-thousand-strong community dreams of is not far off.
