Igor Pinkhasov began his career at the New York Police Department in 2005 and has since risen to the rank of a Deputy Inspector, the first Russian speaking officer with this important title. Pinkhasov was congratulated by the Police Commissioner Demot Shea, Russian American Officers Association, NYPD Shomrim Society, and his team at the 105th police precinct where he has been Commanding Officer since October of 2020. The 105 covers a large swath of Eastern Queens near the Grand Central Parkway to the north and JFK below. The precinct is expected to be divided into a new 116th precinct – championed by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards – that is set to be built near the LIRR’s Rosedale Station, a current satellite station of the 105. This new station has been sought for four decades and has seen many hurdles in being created.

Pinkhasov has long called Queens his home, since immigrating from Russia back in 1996. After graduating the academy, he served first in Ridegwood’s 104th precinct, and also at the 112 in Forest Hills. His appointment to the 105 was also a return to the precinct where he once served as cadet back in 2002. Prior to this he had been a commanding officer at Transit District 11 at Yankee Stadium and commanded detectives in the Bronx and led the Bronx Squad Gang.

Pinkhasov’s other accolades include a position at the Organized Crime Bureau in 2006, detective, in 2008, sergeant in 2010, and a stint at Internal Affairs based out of the 110 in 2011. In 2014, Pinkhasov found himself serving as lieutenant at the 113 in South Jamaica, and shortly thereafter he served in neighboring Brooklyn’s Detective Squad out of the 76th precinct. His success there led him to lead the Detectives Squad at the 67th precinct.

As Deputy Inspector, Pinkhasov intends to continue living true to his beliefs of giving back to the community and serving the people of Queens.
