As the beautiful holiday of Pesach is coming upon us, leading Rabbi’s in the community joined Chief Bukharian Rabbi of USA and Canada Harav Yitzchak Yisraeli for numerous important meetings including one gathering this past Sunday morning. The meeting took place at Cong. Ohel Yosef which is headed by Rabbi Mordechai Rachminov.

The meeting began with the Av Beth Din of Queens, Rabbi Eliyahu Ben Chaim, sharing halachic insights on the holiday of Pesach. Then, Chief Bukharian Rabbi HaRav Yitzchak Yisraeli held a Q-and-A session with Rabbis asking him for guidance  on numerous Halachic matters. All the Rabbi’s were once again mesmerized by Rav Yisraeli’s expertise on every topic discussed.

Rav Ben Chaim then spoke about several important community matters. As was publicized two years ago, a letter was signed by over 30 Bukharian Rabbi’s against R’ Baruch Babaev, expressing shock at the fact that he is promoting lies as if he is the Chief Rabbi of the community. At the meeting, Rav Ben Chaim expressed his pain over Babaev’s behavior and pursuit of honor. “The Bukharian Rabbis already appointed Rabbi Yitzchak Yisraeli, who is a great scholar as their Chief Rabbi. Why is Babaev stirring controversy?? He is not fit for the job.“

The Chief Rabbinate of the Bukharian community in USA and Canada warned that they will be forced to publish a very strong letter against Babaev and his supporters if they don’t stop promoting their lies.

Furthermore, the Rabbi’s shared that there have been rumors that Babaev and others are looking to open a Beth Din in the community. There is a number of details that the Chief Rabbinate cannot share at the moment, though a general letter forbidding the opening of the Beth Din has been published for the public to be aware about.

The Rabbis concluded the meeting by  urging anyone that has influence over Babaev to ask him to put his personal interest aside and stop his terrible actions which are dividing the community.
