Chief Bukharian Rabbi Yitzchak Yisraeli & Rav David Yosef Guests of Honor
Sunday, June 3rd, will go down as a historic day for the Bukharian community in Canada. Aside for a beautiful Sefer Torah dedication, they also dedicated their new Community center which will serve as a house of prayer for both the local Ashkenazi and Bukharian community.
Hundreds of community members and dozens of prominent Rabbis attended this momentous occasion. Some of the guest Rabbi’s included Rav Shmuel Elishayov from Bnei Brak who serves as Rosh Yeshiva of the Sharei Tzion Yeshiva network, and whose student Rav Yaakov Mallayev is leading the Bukharian community in Canada. Also in attendance was Rav David Yosef, the prominent Rabbinical authority from Jerusalem and the son of the late Torah leader Rav Ovadia Yosef. Rav Ovadia Yosef’s student and Chief Rabbi of the Bukharian Community of the USA and Canada, Rav Yitzchak Yisraeli, also made a special appearance. Since becoming Chief Rabbi of the USA and Canada, Rav Yisraeli has given his time to guide the growing community in Canada and expressed great joy in seeing the progress taking place thanks to the leadership of Rabbi Mallayev.
Organizers of the event and members of the Jewish community in Canada expressed tremendous joy in having so many prominent Rabbi’s and community leaders joining together. “Having the son of Rav Ovadia Yosef and the Chief Bukharian Rabbi join us for this occasion, is something that will forever be etched in our memories” said a member of the community who was in attendance with his teenage son.
Indeed, this event will be cherished for many years to come.
