It was a tremendous show of love and appreciation for an organization that has truly become one of the premier outreach organizations in the United States (dare we say the world!). Nearly 2000 different people joined together and gave a donation to CHAZAQ (some donations were large and many were small but they all made a big difference) during a period of 30 hours, starting 2pm May 15th and ending at 8pm the following day. The goal was to raise 250k dollars during that time period with each donation being Quadrupled (thanks to generous matching donors) amounting to a combined one million dollars! Baruch Hashem the goal was reached within 22 hours..... and the outpouring love and support just kept coming in the remainder of the day.

Aside for the tireless dedication of CHAZAQ’s Board of directors, division leaders, and alumni, donations were coming in from Jews of all backgrounds and from all around the world.

It was truly a beautiful display of unity on behalf of an organization that does nothing but unite all segments of Klal Yisrael.

Leading up to the campaign, many people had known CHAZAQ as an organization that inspires thousands throughout the year via their riveting series of lectures. But people quickly learnt that in reality CHAZAQ does much more. They have a women’s division, Children’s division, Seniors division, weekly newsletter, family magazine, online radio, a Kollel, a Beth Midrash program, a food pantry, and.... the list goes on and on.

But on this day, the unique “Charidy” campaign benefited three of CHAZAQ’s divisions which target one segment of the population: Jewish public school students in and around the Queens area.

CHAZAQ provides exciting and educational afterschool programs for children via their Shaping Lives Sunday school and Yaldeinu weekday afterschool program. CHAZAQ’s Jwave teens division keeps teens off the streets and brings them to a safe and educational environments thereby building a strong Jewish foundation for hundreds each year. In addition, CHAZAQ’s PSTY (Public School To Yeshiva) Division works around the clock to encourage and guide parents of Jewish public school students to take the step in registering their child(ren) to Yeshiva.

The results thus far have been truly remarkable. In just the past year and a half, coming into the campaign, CHAZAQ touched the lives of over 1000 Jewish public school students and successfully transferred an astounding 370 students from public schools to Yeshiva. Now their dedicated staff will get back to work looking to solidify and expand their afterschool programs while also reaching out and guiding hundreds of new parents whose children attend public schools.

“The campaign was truly beautiful and showed the unity in our community” said Yaniv Meirov, CHAZAQ’s operation manager. “Words cannot describe the gratitude we have for every single person that was involved. They are all partners in our life changing work...... Now it’s time for our entire staff to work even stronger and inspire many more youth because ultimately our future depends on our
children”.

Indeed, after the successful campaign, CHAZAQ’s staff and supporters gathered together for a Seudat Hodaah at their campaign headquarters located in Yeshiva Central Queens. After all was said and done, on the very next morning , they all returned to do what they do best, inspire Jewish public school students to cherish their rich and beautiful heritage. To that we say Chazaq Chazaq Venitchazeq!
