For Jewish teenagers attending public schools, opportunities for formal Torah education are often limited. Chazaq's JWave Teen Division helps bridge that gap through after-school programs that introduce students to their heritage and encourage a stronger Jewish identity.
At QSI High School, students welcomed Rabbi Asaf Haimoff for a Torah learning session. Gathered around outdoor picnic tables, the teenagers listened as Rabbi Haimoff addressed the group, offering an opportunity to engage with rabbinic guidance in a familiar setting.
Meanwhile, at JWave's Girls Teen Division, participants explored the meaning of true beauty through a creative project. The girls decorated mirrors with sparkling embellishments while learning that a person's worth is reflected in character rather than outward appearance.
The activity illustrated the Torah concept of pnimiyut, emphasizing the importance of middot, dignity, and self-worth. At an age when appearance and social pressures can strongly influence self-image, the mirrors served as reminders that genuine beauty comes from within.
Through Torah discussions and thoughtfully designed activities, JWave gives Jewish public school students opportunities to discover the relevance of their heritage and carry its teachings into their daily lives.
