A phenomenal bridal shower took place two weeks ago at Bet El Synagogue in Fresh Meadows for a bride who is a recent arrival to the United States. The event was coordinated by the Queens-based Likrat Kallah organization, which has, for two decades, provided assistance in the entire spiritual, emotional, and material aspects of bridal needs. Chief community rabbis recognize Likrat Kallah as a top chesed organization.
As there are no coincidences in the world, the bride was referred to the organization by Mrs. Dalia Cohen, one of the founders of Likrat Kallah, for kallah classes (family purity). After a brief initial conversation, Mrs. Cohen realized that the bride was here all alone and there was no bridal shower planned for her. Ms. Cohen, together with Mrs. Penina Aharonoff and Mrs. Ziva Nissani, the co-founders of Likrat Kallah, decided to throw the bride the shower of her dreams.
Within a week, and with much help from the great ladies in our communities of Queens and Great Neck, the arrangements for the bridal shower had been made. On the day of the shower, the generous Mrs. Yardena Shoshani treated the bride to a full beauty day. By the time the shower began at 8 p.m., the hall was brimming with stunning gifts and decorations and over one hundred ladies who came together for the special evening.
The outpouring of joy, kindness, and overwhelming happiness from the women in attendance, who otherwise had never met the bride, was palpable. The highlight of the event was the arrival of the surprise guest of honor: the bride’s very own mother, who had been flown in from Israel by one of the ladies at the shower and arrived directly from the airport. At the emotional moment that the bride recognized her mother, there was not a dry eye in the hall.
The event was followed by the hafrashat challah (separation of the dough) ceremony, led by Mrs. Shiffi Yehushua of Great Neck. After the ceremony, a traditional Moroccan henna ceremony took place. The event closed with a blessing from Rebbetzin, Tammy Rosenthal. In the speech, Rebbetzin Rosenthal noted that in all her years of serving the community, she had never witnessed so much joy and warmth towards a bride.
The organization would like to thank all those who took part by donating their time, services, efforts, all those who contributed gifts, and all who attended the bridal shower.
