On Friday, December 1, Yeshiva Shaarei Zion of Forest Hills had the privilege and honor of welcoming Harav David Yosef Shlita (the son of Harav Ovadia Yosef ZTL). The students had the big merit of having the Rav address both the boys and girls divisions.

As the Rav entered the Yeshiva, the hallways were filled with hundreds of smiling faces filled with enthusiasm; students welcomed the Rav with beautiful special songs. To have wonderful pictures of Torah sages that are hanging on the walls around the Yeshiva is one thing, but to see one who is standing in front of them created a moment for the students that they will never forget. The Rav had the opportunity to walk through the Yeshiva, getting a glimpse of the classrooms, visiting and testing the boys, and actually providing the Yeshiva with the honor of putting up the mezuzot on the new floors that were recently built. It was a true golden moment to have the Rav visit with many others esteemed Rabbanim, including Rabbi Yitzchak Israeli (Bukharian Chief Rabbi of USA), Rabbi Shmuel Alishaev (from Eretz Yisrael), Rabbi Igal Haimoff, Rabbi Emanuel Shimonov, Rabbi Ilan Meirov, Rabbi Israel Ishakov, Rabbi Bar-Lev, and others.

The event was also attended by some of the yeshiva’s supporters, including Dr. and Mrs. Jon Tzvi Batash and Mr. and Mrs. Meir Babaev, who helped build new floors in the yeshiva to accommodate the over-600 students.
