The annual YTT Father and Son Lunch and Learn is one of the most anticipated events on the Yeshiva Tiferet Tzion calendar—an occasion cherished equally by fathers, sons, and the rebbeim who guide them.

Shortly after 11:00 a.m., fathers streamed into the beit medrash, warmly greeted by their sons and guided to their seats. After a brief moment to enjoy coffee and cake, the room settled into a familiar and uplifting rhythm: fathers and sons learning Torah side by side.

Each year, the rebbeim rotate in presenting the sugyah of the day, and this year’s shiur was delivered by Rabbi Shimon Shane, shlita, the 12th-grade rebbe. Together, fathers and sons delved into the learning, grappling with the text, raising thoughtful kashot, and engaging in meaningful discussion. Rabbi Shane then presented the concluding shiur, weaving together the explanations and addressing the questions raised—bringing clarity and depth to the learning.

Adding special significance to the morning was the presence of Harav Chaim Mintz, shlita, Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshiva of Staten Island and a widely respected mara d’asra of the Oorah Organization. His attendance elevated the event, underscoring the importance of strengthening Torah learning across generations.

Following the learning, participants gathered in the main Beis Medrash for a delicious lunch, generously sponsored by YTT alumnus Yosef Yakubov and his family of Bravo Pizza. Harav Chaim Mintz addressed the assembled crowd with stirring words of chizuk and inspiration, drawing on the teachings of the Chafetz Chaim and reminding all present of the enduring power of Torah learned together.

The program continued with a moving siyum masechta, completed by two 10th-grade bochurim, David Gadayev and Binyamin Badalov. Their accomplishment was met with warm applause and heartfelt mazel tov wishes, a proud moment for their families, teachers, and peers.

Soon after, the room filled with spirited dancing, led by YTT alumnus Mr. Reuven Dan, as fathers watched with visible pride while their sons danced joyfully with friends and rebbeim. The sense of unity and simcha was unmistakable.

After bentshing, the entire gathering joined together for Mincha—a powerful and beautiful sight, as fathers and sons stood shoulder to shoulder in tefillah, united alongside the rebbeim.

There is a well-known teaching that a father brings his child into this world, while a rebbe helps guide him toward the next. At the YTT Father and Son Lunch and Learn, that sacred partnership was on full display. Even fathers who may not have had the opportunity to experience such moments themselves were able to pass that gift forward to their children—strengthening the chain of Torah from one generation to the next.

It was a day of learning, connection, pride, and inspiration—one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to attend.
