It was a day filled with excitement and creativity as the YSZ Girls High School warmly welcomed the 8th-grade students from YSZ Elementary for a special morning of connection and exploration.

Upon arrival, the 8th graders were paired with YSZ’s senior students, creating instant mentorship bonds and a sense of sisterhood that defines the school’s environment. Together, they tackled the Marshmallow Challenge—a team-building activity that tested their ingenuity and collaboration. Armed with spaghetti, tape, and string, each group raced to build the tallest freestanding tower capable of supporting a single marshmallow on top.

The room buzzed with energy, laughter, and determination as ideas took shape, structures wobbled, and teamwork flourished. The challenge wasn’t just fun—it was an engaging introduction to the school’s innovative STEM program and its emphasis on hands-on learning, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.

By the end of the morning, the girls had not only built towers—they had built friendships and memories that will carry into their high school journeys. The YSZ Girls High School faculty and students expressed how thrilled they were to spend time with the visiting 8th graders and can’t wait to welcome them back soon at the upcoming Open House.
