Spring has brought a fresh burst of energy to Queens Cheder Moshe Raya Mehemina, where the talmidim of the yeshivah returned from Pesach and dove back into learning with excitement.
In Pre1A, the boys are exploring the “-an” word family, strengthening their reading and spelling skills by filling in missing letters and reviewing their ABCs. In math, they’ve started a new unit on bar graphs and are moving through their updated workbooks — reinforcing past lessons while preparing for new material.
In kriah, they reviewed the rules of the sheva — learning when it’s pronounced (like at the beginning of a word) and when it remains silent (in the middle). This week’s parashah discussion focused on Aharon HaKohen, whose humility — being an anav — made him worthy of becoming Kohen Gadol. The class also learned how to identify which animals, birds, and fish are kosher according to the Torah’s signs.
First grade is full of wonder as the boys unlock the “magic e.” Starting with vowel “a,” they’ve learned to read words like snake, cake, and rake, and are excitedly applying this rule in their reading. In math, they’ve progressed to double-digit subtraction, building confidence as they tackle more complex problems.
They recently received new handwriting books and are proudly practicing their penmanship, carefully forming each letter with precision and care.
Each day, the class counts Sefirat HaOmer and looks forward to Shavuot. In Chumash, they’re studying Parashat Shemini, where the Torah teaches that keeping kosher helps preserve kedushah. First graders who completed the Pesach contest were excited to receive well-earned prizes.
The second grade is bursting with creativity and momentum. The boys are preparing a vibrant spring-themed bulletin board, where they will proudly display their individual book reports. In math, they’ve begun learning how to collect and interpret data using bar graphs and pie charts.
With Rabbi Wieder, the class has resumed Chumash study, focusing on Parashat Shemini. They’re also learning a beautiful song about the 13 Ani Maamins, filling the classroom with joy, emunah, and song.
