On December 25, Chabad of Eastern Queens hosted a spectacular Chanukah on Ice celebration at the World Ice Arena in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The venue was exclusively reserved for the Queens Jewish community, drawing hundreds of families eager to celebrate the first night of Chanukah together.
Guests were greeted by larger-than-life figures of Judah Maccabee and a giant dreidel, setting the festive tone for the evening. The highlight of the event was a dazzling six-foot menorah sculpted entirely from ice, around which families skated to lively Chanukah music, creating a joyful and spirited atmosphere.
Children enjoyed creative Chanukah crafts, making dreidels out of clay and designing vibrant art with velvet and sand in the party rooms.
New York State Assemblymember Sam Berger (District 27), joined by Pesach Osina, Community Engagement Officer, Emergency Services Division, Office of the Speaker, NYC Council, participated in the lighting of the menorah. The menorah lighting was held in memory of Yehuda “Yura” Mullokandov a"h, with his son Simcha and family honored with the lighting of the first candle. Rabbi Yerachmiel Zalmanov and Rabbi Levi Schtroks of Chabad of Eastern Queens led the crowd in spirited singing, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make the event a memorable success for the Queens community.
It was an unforgettable evening of light, joy, and unity, bringing the spirit of Chanukah to life on ice.
