Orot had the honor of hosting Mrs. Charlene Aminoff, a well-renowned speaker, for a remarkable pre-Tish'ah B’Av Challah Bake that drew over 100 ladies! The night featured inspiring words from Mrs. Aminoff, who brought her unique warmth and wisdom to the event.

The tables were meticulously arranged, each set with the necessary ingredients for making challah, allowing participants to fully appreciate the experience. In addition to the challah baking, an array of refreshments and snacks were laid out for a noteworthy brachot party.

While the guests were settling in, Mrs. Aminoff began her talk by addressing the challenges of the galut that am Yisrael continues to face. Following this powerful message, Mrs. Aminoff began to explain the significance of each ingredient required for challah. As the women added each component to the bowl, the gathering prayed for those who needed to come closer to Hashem, for a r'fuah sh'leimah, and for yirat shamayim. The act of kneading the dough became a moment of reflection and connection, especially as Mrs. Aminoff navigated the venue assisting as necessary.

Once the dough was ready, participants headed to the refreshment tables to begin the brachot party. Here, we davened for those seeking children, for pregnant women to have easy deliveries, for shidduchim, and other baqashot. The ladies went around table by table, each table saying their brachah, while everyone replied, "Amen!" in unison, creating an awe-inspiring sense of communal prayer and togetherness. A wonderful story was followed by an inspiring speech about Orot's uniqueness and profound impact on Jewish girls. Then, the founders presented a video showcasing the Orot program, highlighting members and teachers who shared their experiences. The video showcased the tremendous good that Orot fosters within the community, leaving the audience spellbound by the many lives that have been touched by their selfless efforts. At the conclusion of the video, the community was invited to sponsor future events. Mrs. Aminoff generously offered to sponsor a week of Orot programs, setting an example of giving that many participants followed with their own contributions.

As the event drew to a close, the crowd united in a final, powerful moment of prayer. The lights were dimmed, and participants held the challah dough they had prepared, focusing on davening for the soldiers in Eretz Yisrael and for personal requests. Candles were lit, filling the room with a real sense of kedushah, as tears flowed and hearts opened in prayer to Hashem. The memories created at this Tish'ah B’Av Challah Bake will be cherished for a lifetime.
