Yeshiva Tiferet Tzion's (YTT) eleventh graders spent this past Shabbat, Parshat Shemot, in Detroit, Michigan at the home of the Eliyahus. Mr. Eliyahu, a former student of Rabbi Moshe Aharonov, YTT menahel, graciously hosts his rebbe's bochurim annually for a most memorable Shabbaton in Detroit. On Thursday, January 12th the bochurim took off from LaGuardia Airport with their rebbe, Rabbi Binyomin Privalsky, and were joined by alumnus Michael Moore. A few hours after settling in Detroit, the boys enjoyed dinner, a unique activity, WhirlyBall, and heard a Chumash shiur with cholent of course! Following Shacharit and breakfast the next morning, the boys visited the famous Henry Ford museum where they saw an actual assembly line in the process of constructing a Ford-150 truck! On Shabbat, the YTT bochurim enjoyed delicious food, spirited z'mirot and divrei Torah. On Shabbat morning, the group davened at the famed Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Detroit and were privileged to greet the HaRav Yehuda Bakst shlit"a, Rosh HaYeshivah. Havdalah was especially beautiful as they were accompanied by popular singer Shlomo Simcha who regaled the talmidim with stories of the tzaddik, Rav Asher Freund zy"a, his and Rabbi Aharonov's rebbe from Yerushalayim. On Motza'ei Shabbat all enjoyed go-karting, laser tag, and other fun activities prior to a delightful Melavah Malkah. The boys returned to Queens on Sunday afternoon happy, content and energized to start chazarah (reviewing) for the upcoming big bechinah (exam) at yeshivah.

With much gratitude and appreciation to all the gracious individuals and families in Detroit that helped host and treat the YTT talmidim to a lifetime of memories, namely, the Eliyahu, Singal, and Herschfus mishpachot.
