At this year’s “charidy” campaign, CHAZAQ gave the world a small glimpse into their lifechanging work via a short and powerful 2-minute clip. From a morning Kollel in Queens, to afterschool programs for public school students of all ages, to a yeshiva placement division, to community wide lectures, to a food pantry, and more, CHAZAQ truly touches all segments of the Jewish population around the clock.
While nearly all of CHAZAQ’s great work takes place in the United States, with a majority in the New York area, there are quite a few community members that also want to have the merit of spreading Torah in the Holy Land of Israel. As such, CHAZAQ recently opened Kollel “Ohr Aviel” in the city of Jerusalem, where young Rabbinic scholars toil in learning and look to become the future Rabbinic judges of our people.
This past week, CHAZAQ Director Rabbi Ilan Meirov made a short trip to Israel to further Chazaq’s connection in the Holy Land. Firstly, he looked to see how to structure an exciting new Israel Trip for CHAZAQ’s fellowship program for seniors in local public schools. Secondly, he looked to encourage Kollel students in Israel to be involved in outreach work for several hours a week in their local communities.
In looking to push the initiative of others getting involved in community outreach, Rabbi Meirov was invited as the special guest to give introductory remarks to the weekly lecture of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, which was broadcasted to hundreds of thousands of people across all the religious media outlets in Israel. After the class, Rabbi Meirov met numerous heads of Kollel’s and Yeshivas to share ideas in starting a worldwide movement of outreach amongst the youth. All parties involved where very excited and looked forward to such an initiative. More details about these exciting developments coming up in the near future.
