Yeshiva of Central Queens Pre-K and Grade 3 students participated in “Healthy and Wise” with Morah Aliza. They read the books “Germs vs. Soap” by Didi Dragon, and “I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands” by Tony Ross. Students designed their own masks and completed a word search.
YCQ Junior High School girls had a special Paint Program to commemorate Rachel Imeinu’s Yarhzheit this past Monday. The JHS Morot shared words of inspiration to explain why Rachel Imeinu is so significant. The girls learned the medrash in Eichah that teaches how she was the only tzadeket who was able to convince Hashem to have mercy on Bnei Yisrael, and how we pray that Rachel will continue to cry and pray on our behalf. They discussed how the middot of Rachel make her a strong role model for women today. Each girl had her own canvas, and followed the directions of Mrs. Nussbaum, who guided them on how to paint a beautiful picture of Kever Rachel with the date of Rachel’s death.
This past Sunday was YCQ’s second Grade 5–8 Sunday Morning Learning Program of the school year. Rabbi Yaakov Finestone, YCQ JHS Rebbe, gave a shiur titled “What Have You Done For Me Lately?” He explained, “The concept of showing appreciation is not just a ‘nice thing’ to do. Rather, it is an obligation! One must be grateful even for unintentional benefit and even to the descendants of the person who provided the favor.” All attendees also enjoyed a delicious breakfast, and an amazing raffle!
Yeshiva of Central Queens parents joined together for a fun and relaxed evening with the YCQ Parent Teacher Organization, for their annual “Fun Night!” The event gives parents an opportunity to meet new people and catch up with friends. This year, the PTO hosted an “Escape the Room,” with four fun options. The evening was captivating and enjoyable, and a nice way to “escape” the day-to-day busyness parents experience!
