It has been six long months since the Yeshiva Sha’arei Zion family has been together. The students and teachers have excelled remarkably on the videoconferencing platform Zoom, but nothing can replace the teacher-student dynamic found in the holy walls of the yeshiva campus. It is with this thought in mind that in-class learning has returned to YSZ for the commencement of the 2020-2021 school year, a reopening like no other. The excitement, enthusiasm and ruach in the facility was felt on every corner as everyone settled into the yeshiva environment – with some noticeable changes. Health and safety have been an integral part of the reopening process and the adherence to wearing a mask, temperature checks, and the constant use of hand sanitizer are all paramount. Even the school lunches have been individually prepared to keep the student body protected.

In anticipation of the upcoming school calendar, teachers and staff were treated to an informative chinuch program led by world renown educational consultant, Rabbi Jonathan Rietti. Newly installed principal Rabbi Avraham Fridman was also on hand to help explain the new rules and regulations established for the year ahead. With new paint on the walls, and after some expansion and construction, the welcome back banners and streamers were hung, and the children were finally able to file back into their classrooms. The learning this year will be incredible and the children each know that they are truly unstoppable as Hashem has a special love for each of us.
