Bukharian Residents Pledge Support Of Donovan Richards For Queens Borough President

With the dawn of a new year, Queens Democratic party leadership endorsed Councilmember Donovan Richards for Queens Borough President in a special election scheduled for March 24th replacing Melinda Katz who recently assumed the role as Queens District Attorney. Since March 2013, Richards, a Queens native, has represented the 31st District of Southeast Queens, including the overwhelmingly Jewish area of Far Rockaway. Richards Chairs the Committee on Public Safety and is a member of various other committees.

On Saturday evening, January 11th, Mr. and Mrs. David Koptiev opened their home for a fundraiser championing Donovan Richards’ run for Queens Borough President. The hosting committee for the event included: Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Babadzhanov, Mr. and Mrs. Ilan Elishayev, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Gurgov, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Koptiev, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Koptiev, Mr. and Mrs. David Mordukhaev, Mr. and Mrs. Ilya Mordukhaev and Mr. and Mrs. Shalom Zirkiev.

The group heard from passionate speakers highlighting Richards’ record and the overall need to include the Bukharian vote. Local Councilmember of the 29th District in Forest Hills Karen Koslowitz also attended and imparted her blessings to the Bukharian community.

Having your vote count is of extreme importance to the funding and projects awarded to our community. If you are unregistered to vote, the last day to sign up is February 28th. Please encourage your friends, family and neighbors to do their part to empower our Bukharian community to be counted and ensure that the officials appointed to office support our community’s ideals. Voting is more than just a right of all Americans; it is a power bestowed upon its citizens to embolden their voice on a local, state and national levels. Don’t be left out.
