This past Sunday, over 200 fathers and sons took part in the annual Yeshiva Sha'arei Zion Father-Son Breakfast. The YSZ lunchroom was transformed into an ornate banquet hall featuring a large menorah in front of an expansive "Happy Chanukah" banner. The event for 5th through 8th gradeers began with Shacharit followed by a delicious breakfast with sufganiyot, of course. After a bracha from a mekubal from Eretz Yisrael, the Menahel, Rabbi Ephraim Ben Mordechai, introduced the featured speaker, Rabbi Fischel Schachter. Rabbi Schachter held the audience spellbound with his witty storytelling accompanied with powerful and relatable lessons for all ages. He encouraged having perspective of what really matters and not squandering life by getting frustrated and angry with the regular bumps of life. Finally, everyone played a special YSZ themed Human Bingo game. It was an inspiring morning of fathers and sons bonding over Torah, Tefilla, and sufganiyot!
