On the evening of Tuesday, December 17th community members and leaders joined Assemblymember Daniel Rosenthal and his wife Orli for a fundraising reception at the home of Yair and Chana Leah Matan of Kew Gardens Hills.

The Assemblymember expressed his love for the job, “It is my passion to wake up each day and help my constituents in the bureaucratic process.” Rosenthal then continued by decrying the recent bout of anti-Semitism in our country urging all to fight back against those complacent to the anti-Jewish rhetoric.

To that end, Rosenthal recently stood with the Simon Wiesenthal Center to highlight the top ten incidences of anti-Semitic hate in the world this year. The Assemblymember mentioned his work in Albany to help combat this blatant bigotry.

Meshulem Lisker of the Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association noted that “Assembelymember Rosenthal will have an opponent that can potentially hurt the standing in our neighborhood. It is incumbent upon each of us to help Daniel run a productive campaign and encourage our friends and family to come out convincingly and exhibit force by showing up at the polls on election day.”

27th District Leader Shimon Pelman reiterated this sentiment observing that “every election is important, and it is our responsibility to keep our Queens neighborhoods strong and continue to elect those who keep us strong by ensuring that our acquaintances are registered to vote.”

It was explained that the winner of the Democratic primaries grabs the power as they are mostly the determining factor of the final election results in our area. Being a registered Democrat allows your voice to be heard on a local election platform.

Rabbi Yeruchim Silber, Director of New York Government Relations at the Agudath Israel of America reflected, “Klal Yisrael is extremely lucky to have 2 yarmulkes in Albany, 1 being that of our Assemblymember. Daniel is always on the forefront of issues facing the Jewish community despite their often-unwelcoming political nature. It is most vital to keep our Assemblymember in place.”
