Wow! Chanuka in New York was truly something special thanks to an array of riveting programs and events CHAZAQ hosted on the days prior to and throughout the duration of the 8 day holiday. From little children, to men and women, to public school kids and teens, CHAZAQ once again touched them all in a truly remarkable and unprecedented fashion.
Some of the events and programs during this time included a special lecture by Rabbi Mashiach Kelaty on Saturday night December 1st at the Sephardic Cong. of Hewlett. On the following day CHAZAQ held a Community-Wide Chanukah children's carnival at Cong. Har Halebanon in Brooklyn.
Later that evening Rabbi Mordechai Becher gave a beautiful lecture at the Lido Beach Synagogue while R' Yosef Palacci lectured at Cong. Kol Yisrael Achim in Great Neck.
Then on Monday December 3rd CHAZAQ was one of approximately 20 Community organizations (including the QJCC, Emet, Torahanytime, and Shmira) that hosted a special Chanukah Celebration at the Beth Gavriel Center in Forest Hills with the Kaliver Rav, Rav Noach Isaac Oelbaum and the Bukharian Chief Rabbi Rav Yitzchak Yisraeli.
On Tuesday night, December 4th, CHAZAQ partnered with Ohr Navaa for A Night of Gratitude with Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Charlie Harary, and R' Weiss at Congregation Aish Kodesh in the 5 Towns.
Then on Wednesday December 5th CHAZAQ hosted a special Ladies Paint Night event at the Beth Gavriel Center in Forest Hills which also featured words of Inspiration by CHAZAQ Director Rabbi Ilan Meirov.
On Friday December 7th, CHAZAQ's children Chanukah Toy Drive was in full swing putting smiles on the faces of many children in Maimonides Medical Center in Boro Park.
On Saturday Night December 8th CHAZAQ's Jwave Boys Teens division held a Chanukah Party at the Beth Gavriel Center in Forest Hills.
The following day, hundreds of children from CHAZAQ's Afterschool program for public school kids enjoyed separate Chanukah parties in Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates, Kew Gardens Hills, and The Five Towns. Later that afternoon, CHAZAQ hosted a Community-Wide children's carnival at Cong. Ohr Torah in North Woodmere.
That night, CHAZAQ's Jwave teenage girls division held a special Mother Daughter Chanukah Party in Forest Hills while Rabbi David Ashear gave a special Shiur on strengthening our Emuna at Cong. Tov in Kew Gardens Hills.
If you think all this was amazing well on Monday December 10th, the last day of Chanukah, CHAZAQ ended things with a bang by hosting the Big Apple Circus at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan which was full of entertainment for the whole family.
While all this took place, CHAZAQ continued to host dozens of Afterschool programs for public school youth that take place throughout the week all year long, and CHAZAQ's office staff continued to work tirelessly with placing public school students to Yeshiva (baruch hashem well over 500 kids transferred in over two years time!).
Indeed, after all is said and done, it would be safe to say that what CHAZAQ's staff accomplish in several days, others may not accomplish in several years. The gratitude we as a community owe CHAZAQ is beyond words as their work is true to its name of building a stronger future for our community.
