On Monday morning, October 22nd, the Queens community was privileged to host a prominent Torah sage and Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon HaRav Tzion Eliyahu Sofer.  Aside for authoring numerous books on all areas of the Torah, Rav Sofer is also a grand son of the great Mekubal and Posek Rav Yaakov Chaim Sofer, known as the Kaf Hachaim.

Rav Sofer first stopped off at Chazaq’s Kollel and Beth Midrash at Congregation Od Yosef Chai where he inspired the audience with his words of wisdom on the importance of studying and spreading Torah. He blessed Chazaq and encouraged them to increase their work both in their outreach work and with the community at large.

Rav Sofer then visited Yeshiva Shaarei Tzion where he greeted and blessed hundreds of students from various grades.  The Rabbi was extremely impressed by the behavior of the students and professionalism of its staff.

The Rabbi’s genuine warmth and care was felt by all and he truly left a great impression on everyone that met him.
