CHAZAQ’s amazing programs and services in the New York area is well known to all. From the inspirational shiurim in various languages, to the life changing after-school programs for public school students, CHAZAQ’s reach touches all segments of the Jewish population.
Though, what CHAZAQ pulled off on Sunday June 10th was truly remarkable even according to their standards. On that beautiful day, which had quite a few threats of showers, CHAZAQ was involved in over ten events and programs attracting hundreds of men, women and children all around the clock.
The day began with CHAZAQ’s Shaping Lives Sunday program for public school students in Forest Hills, Kew Garden Hills, Jamaica Estates and North Woodmere where scores of children from each neighborhood were provided with a fun filled and educational program. Then at noon, CHAZAQ partnered with Councilman Rory Lancman and the QJCC in presenting an exciting community wide carnival for hundreds of families featuring exciting rides, prizes, lots of nosh and a special show by the New Uncle Moishy….. all for absolutely free!
In the afternoon, some students from CHAZAQ’s Jwave teens division enjoyed a day of learnin’ and bowlin’, having some time to enjoy during the busy season of regents and finals. In the evening time, CHAZAQ partnered with several wonderful institutions to provide inspirational shiurim in Queens (Rabbi David Ashear - Ezra Academy), Five Towns (Rabbi Mordechai Becher- Sharei Emunah), Brooklyn (Rabbi Fishel Shechter- Moreshes Yaakov) and Monsey (Rabbi Daniel Staum- Ohr Chaim). And to top it all off, CHAZAQ hosted an open house event for parents of Jewish public school students where they were given the opportunity to meet and greet staff from nearly 20 yeshiva’s who showcased their wonderful institutions to parents seeking a Jewish education for their
children.Later in the week, CHAZAQ held a special class for women, an exciting event for seniors (not twelfth graders, senior citizens!) and numerous other classes.
Though, CHAZAQ’s focus remains on the thousands of Jewish youth in local public schools. As the summer months kick in CHAZAQ’s yeshiva placement division is in full gear. If you or someone you know needs guidance in transferring their children to yeshiva please contact the CHAZAQ office at 718-285-9132.
