On Tuesday, August 5, communities across Queens came together for National Night Out 2025, a citywide initiative celebrating the bond between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve. Queens Shmira stood proudly alongside NYPD precincts, elected officials, and local families, bringing its steadfast presence and dedication to public safety to events from Forest Hills to Electchester and beyond.
At MacDonald Park, the 112th Precinct hosted a lively evening of music, games, and light refreshments. Shmira volunteers connected with residents, reinforcing their year-round role as trusted partners in safety. The event was graced by New York City Council Member Lynn Schulman and New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, each lending their support to the powerful spirit of collaboration that defines National Night Out. Captain Daniel Fennessey, commanding officer, ensured the night resonated as a true community celebration.
The 102nd Precinct celebration at Victory Field in Forest Park, led by Captain Pratima Maldonado, drew a large and energized crowd. Shmira volunteers engaged with families throughout, offering encouragement and insight. New York City Republican Mayoral Candidate Curtis Sliwa and Council Member Joann Ariola appeared to personally thank volunteers for their commitment to civic service. A highlight of the evening was a generous snack sponsorship by Dunkin’ Donuts—coordinated by Rabbi Daniel Pollack, clergy liaison to the 102nd Precinct, and Scott Campbell, franchise owner of the Kew Gardens Hills Dunkin’—who also extended support to the 107th Precinct event.
At the Electchester Shopping Center, the 107th Precinct hosted an upbeat night of music, giveaways, and wellness booths. Queens Shmira volunteers helped foster the inclusive, community-minded atmosphere. Assembly Member Sam Berger joined the event to express his gratitude for their ongoing dedication. Deputy Inspector Mo Tsang, commanding officer, shared his pride in the event’s turnout and the strong collaboration between NYPD, volunteers, and residents.
In Douglaston, the 111th Precinct welcomed families atop the Douglaston Shopping Center rooftop for an evening of entertainment, including clowns, music, and community resources. Meanwhile, at Bowne Playground in Flushing, the 109th Precinct drew crowds with live entertainment, rides, and raffles.
Across Queens, National Night Out 2025 stood as a powerful testament to unity and shared responsibility. Queens Shmira’s presence reflected its core mission: to serve, protect, and uplift—with dignity and dedication—helping transform this citywide effort into an inspiring celebration of community, partnership, and connection.
