The news of the passing of Avraham (Arkady) Ben Mazal Zirkiev, an extraordinary and deeply respected individual, has brought profound sorrow and disbelief to thousands across the globe. His departure leaves a void that cannot easily be filled, as he was a beacon of kindness, wisdom, and dignity for all who knew him.
Avraham’s life journey was nothing short of remarkable. Born into a family that faced immense challenges in post-war Tajikistan, he entered the world under the shadow of grief, with his father having passed away just 3 months before his birth. As the 10th child, his early days were marked by hardship, but also by an enduring sense of love and resilience.
He laid the foundation for a life steeped in family unity and extraordinary achievements. Avraham excelled academically and professionally, eventually becoming a skilled engineer after graduating from the prestigious Institute of Mechanical Engineering. His commitment to education and hard work became hallmarks of his character.
The defining moment of Avraham’s personal life came when he met Mira, the woman who would become his devoted wife and closest confidant. Together, they built a loving home and raised three exceptional children, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance. Their legacy expanded through a vibrant lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and dedication Avraham and Mira poured into their family.
Immigration unlocked new dimensions of Avraham’s potential, allowing him to make groundbreaking contributions in applied scientific research. As the founder of 7 patents, his innovations brought significant advancements and financial rewards to the global community. Beyond his professional achievements, Avraham remained deeply committed to his faith and heritage. Together with his dear friend Ilya Aronov (of blessed memory), he played a pivotal role in the construction of the community mikvah and the first Bukharian Jewish community center (71st shul) in Forest Hills gifting the community a sacred space for worship and connection. His contributions to the Beth Gavriel Synagogue further cemented his legacy as a pillar of the Jewish community.
Avraham Zirkiev’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, generosity, and unwavering faith. His gentle demeanor, profound wisdom, and selfless actions touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. He leaves behind not only a grieving family but also a community that will forever cherish his memory and honor his legacy.
We extend our deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Mira, his children—Leora, Elana and Shalom—their families, and all his relatives and friends. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration as we mourn the loss of this noble soul.
