At this significant juncture in life, it is important to recall that Hashem sends everyone to this world with unique potential and a distinct mission in life. Impressive is the person who finds in himself the strength of character to reach his full potential. With all the community growth, we have seen that Hashem prepared for Simcha much work, which has required much effort on his part. However, we also sampled the great happiness which blossomed from his labor, and the way in which he juggles the responsibilities of husband, father, community man and business man. This bodes well for us, a community aiming for the brightest future, but always looking proudly at our past.

Simcha was 20 years old when he arrived in America, accompanied by his parents and two younger siblings. The immediate challenge of setting a new hearth was too soon coupled with the passing of his father Gavriel. Gavriel, of blessed memory, was destined to take only the first steps towards a livelihood for his family in this new country. Yet the family persevered and moved forward, always looking back to a mother who gave her total person over for her children’s success.

Notwithstanding these hardships, this was also a special time for Simcha because he was laying the foundations for his own family with Ms. Diana Kaikov. Over the next three decades, Simcha together with his wife Diana raised five wonderful children, three of whom already have begun their own families as well. His happiness is also our happiness, because in him and his family, we see the story of Bukharian Jewry in America.

For over 20 years, Simcha has been working together with numerous like-minded people to help strengthen Jewish roots. In particular, this includes his work and support for the growth of Torah-observance, family principles, and community development. His most conspicuous contributions are apparent by the thousands attending Beth Gavriel’s multiple minyanim and learning programs. His imprint is also felt on the lives of thousands of children, including seven-hundred which are currently enrolled in a pre-school to High School yeshiva system. Thanks to Simcha and people like him, we have become a community accustomed to wonderful programs and initiatives. Even so, Simcha never fails to again impress us with the fruits of his effort, devotion and determination.

Simcha’s success is undoubtedly due to the support of his dear wife Diana, his mother Mira, his brothers Joseph and Uri, his sister Shirin, and her beautiful family. His community projects are in many instances supported by the Koptiev brothers (with whom he began the Beth Gavriel Center), Rabbi Immanuel Shimonov (Head Rabbi of Beth Gavriel), and the thousands of community members who continue to lend their support.

Dear Simcha, you have met your 50th birthday with many accomplishments in hand. Hashem has obviously endowed you with many unique talents. Thank you for directing your energies towards this community because you fill our lives with much happiness and light. We wish you and your family many more years together in health, happiness and well-being. Happy 50th Birthday!

Sincerely, and with the deepest respect and appreciation,

The Beth Gavriel Center Board
