I don’t believe it! Did the BJL publish an article about the appeal of what Tzvi Haimov calls conspiracy rabbis in our community? I can’t begin to tell how many people in our community are unfortunately attracted to these speakers on YouTube. They are literally cult-like in their obsession with these conspiracy rabbis. I am so thankful that the BJL has published such an important and pressing piece about how we can learn to identify authentic rabbis from the quacks on YouTube. Haimov’s point on Mesorah, or tradition, was beautiful and so true. We are, indeed, a people who adhere to a particular Mesorah, while the conspiracy rabbi adheres to nothing except his self-aggrandizement. Community rabbis should be more forceful about these fraudsters who are distorting Torah and manipulating our friends and family members.
