When a person unfortunately does an aveirah, he should be aware that the wrongdoing is a horrible transgression; however, it is even worse for the person to be depressed after committing the sin. Even worse would be for the thought to cross that Hashem will not provide another chance for redemption. The yeitzer ha’ra knows that such notions enter our minds and uses these negative connotations to his advantage.

The yeitzer ha’ra is keenly aware that an individual becomes upset after carrying out an err, so he manipulates the mind when it is most vulnerable to seduce the person to lapse and further cause aveirot.

As long as a human being has life, that person can return to Hashem. The concept is proven with the obvious: Upon waking up each morning, despite perpetrating a transgression the day prior, Hashem has specifically chosen that neshamah for another mission and returned it to the physical body where it resides.

Hashem is clearly stating, “Hey! Wake up! You have another day to live.” Once granted this integral element, it becomes apparent that repentance is feasible, because if it were not possible then the person would not have been awarded life. Moreover, it is not our place to argue with Hashem’s ultimate decision. Thus, one can never utter that it is too late for them to receive a pardon from their Creator, or that they could never return to the fold of Hashem.

That is the yeitzer ha’ra trying to tackle the person and convince them into feelings of hopelessness. Yet each of us grows with the yeitzer ha’ra finding spiritual growth at every instance when we overcame his deceitful ways.

Never think that it is too late to come back to Hakadosh Baruch Hu. If one is alive, they have the upper hand and can regain their closeness with the Almighty.
