Dear Editor,

My mother and grandmother went to the ocean in Belmar / Spring Lake Heights, NJ despite  it not yet being opened for the season. While there, they filled up on gas and the Turkish attendant, seeing that they were Jewish told them the following personal story, “You may have heard that I used to be a gas attendant in Lakewood. One time a frum lady came and asked for $12 worth of gas. By mistake, I apparently filled the entire tank, and the total came to $81. She said ’sorry, I only have $12’. He realized it was his error, and that he would have to forfeit the difference from his paycheck. He told her, “It is OK,” allowing her to go on with her day. However, before closing-time, her husband returned with the additional $69!

This attendant said in his broken English, “When he bring de money, I cry; you people, de best, I love Jews!’
