CHAZAQ’s life changing work is known throughout the Jewish community. Thousands of people from all backgrounds are inspired by their events and lectures each year since their inception in 2006. In fact, in the last 12 months alone, over 14,000 people attended CHAZAQ lectures in 28 different cities! Truly a remarkable accomplishment.
Though as we all know, CHAZAQ’s main goal and mission is to touch the lives of thousands of local Jewish public school students in the Queens Community and beyond. “There are approximately 10,000 traditional Jewish public school students in our backyards here in the Queens/Brooklyn area” says Yaniv Meirov, CEO of Chazaq. “Many are of Bukahrian descent that come from good families with a respect for the Torah but many don’t realize the potential spiritual damage today’s public school system can have on their children”.
Indeed, in the last 12 months, CHAZAQ touched the lives of 1,227 public school students with nearly half being children and a majority being teens. Baruch HaShem 309 of them were transferred to Yeshivas during this short time period. Another truly remarkable accomplishment.
“Lives are being changed,” says Yaniv. “What’s being done is truly amazing, but a lot more needs to be done. We can’t stop.”
This past week, CHAZAQ held a Charidy Campaign, which was a 36 hour worldwide campaign to get the community at large to assist in their life changing mission.
Rav Dovid Feinstein and Rav Shmuel Kamenetzky, the leading Rabbinic authorities in America signed a public document encouraging everyone to support CHAZAQ’s life changing work. They were joined by several other Torah leaders such as Rav Yitzchak Yisraeli (the Chief Rabbi of the Bukharian Community in the United States and Canada), Rav Ahron Shechter (Rosh Yeshiva Chaim Berlin), along with Rav Malkiel Kotler and Rav Yerucham Olshin (Roshei Yeshiva of Lakewood), amongst others.
In addition, both sons of Rav Ovadia Yosef zatzal, joined in Chazaq’s mission. The Chief Rabbi of Israel- the Rishon Letzion -- Rav Yitzchak Yosef -- wrote a lengthy letter in support of CHAZAQ’s work and praised CHAZAQ’s Director Rabbi Ilan Meirov for all the life changing work he does in the community.
In addition, Rav Ovadia Yosef’s other son -- Rav David Yosef - who is one of the leading Rabbinic authorities in Jerusalem
added his fullest support.
“After a lot of work, Baruch HaShem over 2,300 community members got together in supporting Chazaq’s Charidy campaign” says Yaniv. “Our board of directors and our scores of volunteers worked tirelessly to make this a success. They were in the auditorium of YCQ, who were once again amazing hosts, and they worked hard because they see our great track record and they want us to reach even greater heights. Bezrat HaShem we will keep going strong. We will not stop till we turn every stone to assure we touch the lives of as many people as possible”.
