Each day when you set out to pray to Hashem and recite his holy tefillot, are you really focused on Him? Do you genuinely believe that Hashem is the only source that can liberate you from a bad situation and provide you with your heart’s desire?

For many, there remains some part in the back of one’s mind that ponders, “Of course Hashem exists, but I also have my parents, in-laws, friends, and boss who stand at my side.” There is a wonderful example that illustrates this concept. Let us say that you are about to head out on a job interview. What thoughts should cross your mind? You certainly should not be thinking that it is because of your personal talents that you might be offered the special career opportunity. As an individual who believes in a greater being, you must trust that ultimately Hashem is responsible for the decision at stake. If you are chosen for the position or if management passes, remember Hashem is the original source that gave you each talent.

A similar notion can be applied to dating. When one is considering marriage, they must know the reality – only Hashem is responsible for every shidduch that is proposed. So, when we pray to Hashem, we must place all our full concentration and belief in Him, and no one else. This is the precise recipe to have your prayers answered.
